Auto Pilot Retrofit
This project involved a complete autopilot retrofit on a small, custom-built fishing boat. The vessel already had an older autopilot system installed, but it was outdated, unreliable, and lacked many of the modern features the owner wanted. After carefully assessing the existing setup, we designed and installed a new, state-of-the-art autopilot system that delivers greater accuracy, smoother steering, and better integration with the boat’s navigation electronics.
During the installation, we were able to reuse several of the existing mounting brackets and hardware, which helped minimize downtime and reduce costs for the owner. However, some areas required custom fabrication and creative problem-solving to ensure the new components fit seamlessly with the existing systems and layout. Our team takes pride in this level of precision work—making sure that every installation not only performs perfectly but also looks clean and professional.
Many yacht and boat owners choose to upgrade or install autopilot systems for the convenience and efficiency they bring. A modern autopilot allows you to maintain a steady, accurate course without constant manual steering, reducing fatigue and allowing you to focus on navigation, fishing, or simply enjoying time on the water. Additionally, by keeping your vessel on a consistent heading, an autopilot can help improve fuel efficiency and reduce engine strain over time.
It’s important to note, however, that an autopilot is an aid—not a replacement for a vigilant captain. Always remain alert and aware of your surroundings, especially in congested areas or changing sea conditions. Safety should always remain the top priority.
