Marine Surveys Are Very Important
This was a marine survey day on a 1998 Hunter 260 sailboat. The survey went very well and the deal closed with a minimal repair allowance. It’s very rare that a marine survey is not needed when purchasing a vessel. With some of our clients, we’ll even perform surveys annually so that the vessel gets a good inspection and stays in top condition.
Performing surveys can often be a key component to keeping as much value in your yacht as possible. Knowing what needs to be repaired as-you-go is much better than letting things get worse and worse and having large repair bills. In some cases, what can be a few hundred dollars in maintenance can end up being thousands of dollars in repairs if not taken care of early.
